"If you can believe it, the 2019 Seven Apart Summit Cabernet Sauvignon is even better and can be thought of as a hypothetical blend of the Shale and Basalt releases, with the elegance of the Shale and the power of the Basalt. Lots of cassis, raspberries, iron, savory herbs, and lead pencil notes emerge on the nose, and this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered mid-palate, and enough building tannins to warrant 3-5 years of bottle age. This lengthy, insanely good 2019 will have 20-25+ years of longevity."
2019 Seven Apart Basalt
As we celebrate the glorious mountain Atlas Peak that is home to our Stags Ridge Vineyard, we pay homage to its geological makeup. Basalt rocks are formed from volcanic activity, dark, fine grained and quite hard. This namesake wine shares those qualities and accentuates the bolder and richer side of mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon.Learn More

"A bigger, richer wine, the 2019 Seven Apart Basalt Cabernet Sauvignon has a similar darker cherry, plum, and currant-driven core of fruit as well more minerality, iron, and roasted herb notes with time in the glass. The palate is on another level and is full-bodied, deep, rich, and concentrated, with incredible tannins as well as balance. This is pure Napa Valley Mountain Cabernet. Hide bottles for 2-4 years, and it's going to have 25 years or more of overall longevity. Bravo!"
"Notes of ripe black and blue fruit, sage, chocolate and pencil shavings with touches of flowers and nut shells. Full-bodied and dry with an array of polished, fine-grained tannins, succulent fruit and a velvety texture. Long, mineral finish. Will soften with age and deliver something really outstanding. Try in 2024 and onwards."
2021 Seven Apart Shale
Seven Apart Shale is an expression of our estate vineyard located high atop Atlas Peak, seven miles up the road from the Seven Apart winery. We call the vineyard Stags Ridge, as it is perched above the rock outcroppings that give the famed Stags Leap area of Napa Valley its name. Like the rock formation after which it is named, Shale—the wine—is layered, fine-grained, and highly structured. While the fruit from this challenging, high elevation site always produces wine with great power and intensity, Shale is crafted to showcase the softer, more detailed side of the estate.Learn More

"The 2021 Seven Apart Shale Cabernet Sauvignon, which is all Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate on Atlas Peak, has a powerful, full-bodied, concentrated style as well as beautiful notes of blackcurrants, new leather, and graphite. The texture here is gorgeous."

"The 2021 Seven Apart Expedition Cabernet Sauvignon, with 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot in the blend, is deep garnet-purple in color. After a swirl or two, the nose erupts with wonderfully pure scents of blackcurrant jelly, kirsch, and black raspberries plus suggestions of camphor, violets, and tilled soil with a touch of cinnamon toast. Big, rich, and full-bodied, the palate delivers impactful black fruit and baking spice layers, framed by exquisitely ripe fine-grained tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and fragrant. This is gorgeous!"
