This exclusive collector’s set includes the 2018, 2019, and 2020 vintages of the Seven Apart Expedition Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 3-bottle set includes one bottle of each vintage. The 6-bottle set includes two bottles of each vintage.
These are the first three ever vintages of our flagship wine and quantities were exceptionally small. Only 60 barrels were produced of the 2018 and 2019 vintages and only 30 barrels were produced in 2020.
These wines have been aging in our winery since release and only 50 cases are available to purchase with this release.
2018 Vintage
We worked diligently to fine tune a blend that is powerful, structured, rich, and accessible all at once. The character of the wine is driven by dark, expressive Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Merlot bringing complexity, spice, and nuance. After a controlled fermentation and long maceration on the skins, the wine was aged for 18 months in French oak, 80% of the barrels being new. This rounded the tannins, and gave the wine a velvety texture.
2019 Vintage
The 2019 vintage is very much defined by high energy, fine focus, and generosity. The Seven Apart Expedition from 2019 is bright, polished and high-powered. A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, the wine is a tapestry of perfectly ripe fruit flavors. It was aged for 18 months in French oak.
2020 Vintage
After 14 months of aging, we carefully pieced together the blend, and put it back to barrel for another 6 months. The final blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 6% Petite Sirah. The results are exciting both as a winemaking victory and as a wine of immense character that marks this unforgettable year.
All three of these wines have aged perfectly in our winery. Judging from the density and structure present, and having followed these wines incredibly closely through their many stages, we are confident to say that they will likely age for at least two decades in the bottle, and continue to reveal notes about this great journey.
